Before taking this medication, or any product/medicine, it is important to tell your doctor if you have ever had an allergic reaction to this medicine, phenytoin, or other medications. This may be especially important for patients who are in the hospital receiving drugs or have been in the emergency department for serious heart problems or liver problems. Patients should be told not to drink alcohol while taking this medication and for at least 14 days after stopping treatment. Consult your doctor before using this medication if you have a history of seizures/convulsions, or if you are on other medications that may cause drowsiness (eg, alpha blockers, anticonvulsants).
